Osage County authorities say they have arrested one person after an alleged arson incident in Burlingame late last week.
The Sheriff’s Office is not releasing the suspect’s name at this time, but Sheriff Laurie Dunn told KVOE’s television partner WIBW in Topeka the person was not the homeowner.
Firefighters and law enforcement agencies responded to 615 West Banks in southwest Burlingame around 10:30 am Friday after the fire was reported. The home, owned by Benjamin Dorsey, was valued at around $100,000. Authorities have not given an official loss estimate, but there was apparently significant damage inside the house before the fire was eventually put out.
7 am Monday: Arson under investigation in Burlingame
A Friday morning fire in Burlingame is being investigated as an arson incident.
The Osage County Sheriff’s Office says authorities received a 9-1-1 call about a house fire at 615 West Banks around 10:30 am Friday. No injuries were reported. The house was owned by Benjamin Dorsey and was valued at $100,000. Authorities have not said how significant the damage was to the home.
Numerous agencies responded, including Burlingame, Carbondale and Osage City fire units, Osage County EMS, Burlingame Police, Osage County deputies and the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office. At this time, the investigation is being jointly conducted by the Sheriff’s Office and State Fire Marshal’s Office.
