The Emporia Municipal Band capped off an exciting week of holiday-themed shows at the Granada Theatre Sunday with their annual Christmas Concert.
The special out of season concert is the band’s annual gift to the city of Emporia for all of their support throughout the year. The concert featured such classic songs as “Jingle Bells Forever,” Patapan,” Sleigh Ride,” and “Christmas Festival” just to name a few. The band was led by current conductor James Davis with one exception. Former conductor Gary McCarty led the band in the finale, a Christmas adaptation of “Home on the Range.”
The EMB concert followed what had been a star-studded week of Christmas shows at the Granada including the Emporia Symphony Orchestra and ESU A Capella Choir concert on Tuesday and the Shenandoah Good Ole Fashioned Christmas Show Friday evening.
The concert was free although donations from patrons were welcomed and will go to support the band as they prepare for their 2019 concert season.
