Flint Hills Technical College is making great progress with it’s Inspiring Wranglers Campaign.
That was the update from FHTC President Dr. Dean Hollenbeck and Vice President of Advancement Mike Crouch when they joined KVOE’s Talk of Emporia Wednesday. A recent donation from the Sunderland Foundation in Kansas City of $400,000 announced Monday has the campaign now sitting at $1.1 million, close to halfway towards its goal of $2.4 million.
The campaign was developed to renovate and expand the Hospitality and Culinary Arts program lab areas, as well as the program’s curriculum. According to Crouch, the updated facilities and curriculum will allow students to receive American Culinary Federation accreditation, thus achieving chef status upon graduation. Crouch explains this will be a major advantage for their students in their fields.
The renovations will provide two separate baking and culinary labs, dedicated classroom space, a renovated student commons area and a chemistry lab.
Dr. Hollenbeck explains the construction of the new chemistry lab will positively affect more than just the culinary arts department.
