Two suspects in a drug distribution case dating back to October had separate but connected hearings Wednesday in Lyon County District Court.
A bond modification request for Marquise Richardson was denied by Magistrate Judge Doug Jones, and a separate preliminary hearing scheduled to take place immediately after that hearing was delayed to Dec. 19. Richardson was asking for a reduction in his $75,000 bond so he could finish high school through the Flint Hills Learning Center.
Also, Raul Magallanez, Jr., waived his right to a preliminary hearing in his case. His next hearing will be a pretrial Jan. 4.
Richardson faces charges of cocaine distribution; marijuana distribution; possession of paraphernalia with intent to manufacture, plant or cultivate; illegal use of a communication device or facility; and interference with law enforcement.
Magallanez, meanwhile, faces a count of marijuana distribution and a count of paraphernalia possession with intent to manufacture, plant or cultivate after a second distribution count was dismissed Wednesday.
Both men were accused after an Emporia Police investigation in October.
