Badges United has been rescheduled.
The event was originally set for Saturday morning, but a cold rain caused organizers to postpone the activity. The fundraiser is now from 3-7 pm this upcoming Monday.
Badges United features representatives of the Emporia Police Department, Lyon County Sheriff’s office and Emporia Fire Department as they ring bells at Salvation Army Red Kettle locations at Bluestem Farm and Ranch Supply and Walmart. The event is a friendly competition and also draws attention to the annual Salvation Army fundraising effort towards its goal of $72,000.
Badges United is taking place after two Doubler Days, and was actually supposed to coincide with the first one where all donations of $20 bills were matched. Totals from that effort are pending. On Thursday, Wright CPA Group will match all Red Kettle donations up to $1,000.
Badges United will come just before a Doubler Day on Dec. 11. Details on the matching donor will be announced later.
Salvation Army Capt. Deb Thompson has a campaign update during Wednesday’s Newsmaker 2 segment at 820 am on KVOE and KVOE.com.
