The Emporia State football team closed out the 2018 season with a 30-22 win over Arkansas Monticello in the Corsicana Bowl Saturday.
Senior Quarterback Braxton Martstall earned MVP honors throwing 5 touchdown passes.
He threw 2 touchdown passes to Jordan Reed, a 32 yard pass and a 8 yard pass. Justin Brown caught a 45 yard scoring pass with 2 second to play before halftime to give the Hornets a 18-9 lead at intermission. In the second half he connected with Tyler Harris on a 31 yard scoring pass and a 13 yard scoring pass. Marstall finishes his career with a school record 87 touchdown passes thrown. Landon Nault finished with 59 rushing yards to finish the season with 1068 yards and 3026 for his career.Emporia State Coach Garin Higgins credited the seniors with helping pick up the win.
The Hornets finish the season with a 8-4 record.
