‘Tis the season for scams, and the latest example is being reported in Morris County.
The Sheriff’s Office says residents have reached out to deputies to report calls allegedly from the Social Security Administration. The callers say there is a problem with the individual’s Social Security number and then asks the recipient to call a certain number to get the situation straight.
The Sheriff’s Office reminds people the Social Security Administration does not initiate contact, although it will return calls. If you get such a call, do not give your number out. Instead, hang up and call law enforcement.
