An area community is benefiting from a federal program to build or improve infrastructure and essential services.
The USDA’s Rural Development Office has announced an $80,000 loan for White City in Morris County. The money will use a chip-seal approach to resurface the city streets. The USDA says the streets are in high-traffic areas and are in disrepair, so the project is needed.
This round of improvements involves 41 projects in 18 states as well as Puerto Rico. Eligible applicants include cities, public entities, nonprofit agencies and both federally and state-recognized Native American tribes. Applicants and projects must be in rural areas with a population of 20,000 or less.
Approved projects receive federal loans, with amounts ranging from $10,000 to $165 million.
