If you enjoy swimming, freezing water, and supporting a good cause, then the annual Polar Plunge fundraiser is just for you.
The Polar Plunge is a fundraising event that supports Special Olympics Kansas. The event itself involves taking a dip into icy lakes and pool waters around Kansas.
Once again, Emporia is hosting its own Polar Plunge, and spokespeople John Koelsch and Mitch Guthrie joined KVOE’s Morning Show this week with a preview. Guthrie gives the details for the plunge, including the date and place.
The Polar Plunge goal for Emporia is $20,000, while the overall goal for the event statewide is $228,000. Organizations are encouraged to partner with them with the promise that up to 40 percent of the funds they raise will go back to them.
Guthrie says registration for Emporia’s Polar Plunge is now open.
All are encouraged to come out and participate. For more information on registration and partnering, visit their website at www.plungeks.org.
