A new grant will aid Flint Hills Technical College in purchasing new equipment to benefit the Dental Assisting Program.
The program recently received a Kansas Board of Regents Innovative Technology Grant which is afforded through the Perkins State Technology Program. The grant is available to all public institutions with career and technical programs and is awarded for innovative technical courses or programs in emerging technologies or areas of skill shortages.
The $28,000 grant will be utilized by FHTC in partnership with Benco Dental of Pittston, PA, to purchase a digital scanner for the Dental Assisting Program. The new technology will allow students to perform digital impressions with industry standard equipment which provides students with the advantage of completing training prior to entering the workforce and adds to the skills obtained while at FHTC.
FHTC Director of Dental Assisting and Instructor Monica Graves states in a press release, “I am excited about receiving this grant.” She later added, “I appreciate the opportunity to write for the grant and especially want to thank Benco for agreeing to partner with us on this endeavor.”
