One woman was checked for possibly minor injuries after a car-deer crash on Interstate 35 east of Emporia on Friday night.
Lyon County Deputy Kevin Lee says authorities came upon the crash, which happened near the Hartford-Neosho Rapids exit at mile marker 141. The car, driven by 42-year-old Katrina Wollard, was disabled in the middle of the highway and Wollard was found walking in the median when deputies arrived around 10 pm.
Wollard told deputies a deer ran out of the median into her path, causing the crash.
Rescue crews arrived, checked Wollard for potential injuries and released her. Wollard was wearing her seatbelt when the crash happened.
The highway was blocked briefly while the car was removed.
