Get ready to hear the jingle bells of the Red Kettle Campaign, as today’s event at Hobby Lobby officially kicks it off.
Captain Deb Thompson of the Salvation Army is leading the campaign this year and expects a great season of giving. Thompson explains why some need the Salvation Army’s support.
Thompson also encourages people to be extra generous on their “Doubler Days.” These are days that all donations, up to $1,000 will be matched by a community donor. Thompson says that these days will help a lot to meet their goal of $72,000 this year.
The Doubler Days are scheduled for Dec. 1st, 6th, 11th, 14th, 17th and the 21st with one more unscheduled Doubler Day to come.
Thompson also had a message to inform the community of where specifically their donations will go to help.
The red kettles can be found outside of Bluestem, Country Mart, Dillons, Good’s Cash Saver, Graves, Hobby Lobby, Sutherlands, Walgreens, and Walmart. There will also be one outside of the Granada Theatre on Dec. 7th for the Shenandoah concert. Counter kettles can also be found in various stores.
