One man was airlifted from the scene of a currently unspecified workplace incident in west Emporia on Wednesday.
Emporia Fire rescue crews were called out to Better Life Technology, 1219 Hatcher, shortly before 12:30 pm for a reported entrapment. Fire Capt. Bill Harmon confirms initial reports that a man had an arm stuck in equipment before rescue crews arrived.
Emporia’s LifeTeam Midwest helicopter airlifted the victim to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita for further treatment. The man’s name has not been released and additional details are unclear. Company officials are declining comment at this time.
Better Life Technology makes polyvinyl coverings for a variety of buildings and surfaces. The Emporia facility handles manufacturing, warehousing and shipping for the company, which is based in Lenexa.
At this time, it not known whether the Occupational Safety and Health Administration will investigate.
