The Emporia Church of Christ will share an abundance of food and fellowship once again this Thanksgiving.
Pastor Neil Taylor, KVOE’s Newsmaker guest Tuesday, says it has already been busy at the church leading up to the annual feast. With good reason — the church is planning to have around 30 turkeys on hand plus around 10 hams, 70 pies and all the side dishes of a traditional Thanksgiving.
The Church of Christ congregation numbers around 80, and Taylor says everybody will be involved.
The meal is from 11 am to 2 pm Thursday and is free to anybody attending with no donations requested or expected. Residents can have their meals delivered by calling the church at 342-3999. Taylor says the number of meals served at the church and those delivered across town are typically about equal. Last year, there were about 430 deliveries and close to 400 onsite meals.
