A second round of repairs has sufficiently stabilized a water line that broke in downtown Emporia late last week.
The 10-inch line failed in the 700 block of Commercial late Friday. Initial repairs took place into Friday evening. Work then halted for the weekend. On Monday, Underground Utilities crews finished repairs to the pipe and also installed a fill material to keep the line stable.
Department supervisor Mike Dvorak says final repairs, including street paving, could take place either Tuesday or Wednesday. Parking in the affected area will be closed until final pavement takes place.
