Cameron University handed the Emporia State women their first loss of the season 86-72 Monday night.
The Lady Hornets held the lead for only 2:34. Their biggest lead was by 3 14-11. They would trail by 21 points in the 4th quarter. It was a game that saw the Lady Hornets make only 33 percent of their shots, 20-60. They were 4-20 behind the 3 point line. Emporia State did make 28 of 35 free throws. Cameron shot 45 percent from the floor hitting 31 of 69 shots. The Aggies made 14 of 32 three point shots. Tyra Jones led Emporia State with 19 points and 10 rebounds. 11 of her points came from the free throw line. Tiana Moala added 16 points and 12 rebounds. Cameron was led by Ava Battese with 23 points, she made 7 3 point shots. Emporia State Coach Toby Wynn said they were never able to find any rhythm.
With the loss the Emporia State women fall to 3-1 for the season. They will play Arkansas Fort Smith Friday night in the Thanksgiving Classic. Tip-off at White Auditorium is set for 7:30p.
