Over the river, through the woods — and through the air — regardless of how you get to Grandma’s house this Thanksgiving, expect a lot of people will be joining you.
Kansas AAA is projecting record holiday travel this time with a 5-percent increase over last year. Spokesman Shawn Steward says that’s expected both across Kansas and across the country.
Along with the higher travel numbers, though, will come high numbers of vehicle issues.
Steward says travel numbers are increasing in part due to falling gas prices. Locally, gas ranges from $2.30 to $2.39 a gallon, a better than 30-cent drop from four weeks ago. The statewide average is $2.42 a gallon. Also, Americans are feeling good about the economy and are more willing to spend disposable income on trips than in years past.
