One person was hospitalized after a two-vehicle accident in northeast Lyon County early Saturday morning.
Emergency crews responded after the crash happened just after 8:40 a.m. on the Kansas Turnpike at mile marker 148, a mile northeast of the Admire-Council Grove exit. An SUV driven by 40-year-old James Louis Nelson of Springfield Missouri and a car driven by 45-year-old Eric Wooden of Topeka were both traveling southbound when the accident occurred
For currently unlisted reasons Nelson rear-ended Wooden causing both vehicles to strike the barrier wall.
Nelson was taken by ambulance to Newman Regional Health for treatment. His condition will not be released. Wooden declined initial treatment. His condition is unknown.
The left southbound lane was blocked briefly due to debris but was cleared less than an hour after the accident.
The Kansas Highway Patrol was assisted by the Emporia Fire Department and Miller first responders.

A two-vehicle accident early Saturday morning sent one person to Emporia for treatment afterward.
Emergency crews were dispatched to Kansas Turnpike mile marker 148, a mile northeast of the Admire-Council Grove exit, just after 8:40 a.m. for a reported two-vehicle collision. Both vehicles were southbound when they collided for unknown reasons.
One driver was transported by ambulance to Newman Regional Health. The names of the drivers involved have not been released.
The left southbound lane was blocked due to debris but was cleared less than an hour after the accident.
