The Emporia State womens basketball team used a 15-0 run to start the 3rd quarter and never looked back on the way to a 93-47 win over Northwestern Oklahoma State Thursday.
The Lady Hornets had a 14 point lead late in the 1st quarter before being out scored 15-9 in the second quarter and held a 39-33 lead at halftime. In the 3rd quarter the Lady Hornets did not give up a point until the 4:42 mark. Lady Hornet Coach Toby Wynn was not surprised.
Emporia State was scorching from the 3 point line hitting 16 of 31 shots, 51 percent. Jessica Wayne led the offense with 21 points, she also had a game high 10 rebounds. Emily Miller was 6-10 from the 3 point line and finished with 19 points.
Addie Lackey added 15 points and had 7 assists. Tyra Jones finished with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Morgan Lauden scored 10 points. The Lady Hornets forced 18 turnovers and scored 30 points off the turnovers. They held Northwestern to 24 percent shooting on the night and 18 percent from the 3 point line. With the win the Lady Hornets are now 3-0 to start the season. They next play at Cameron on Monday night.
