The Flint Hills Community Health Center is launching an information campaign about how to stop bedbugs.
There has been a sharp increase in the number of bedbug reports in Lyon County, according to environmental health specialist Jennifer Milbern. She says bedbug infestations are a nationwide concern.
Health Center Communications Director Verlin Conkle says bedbugs are more of a concern for their bites than major health concerns.
If you think you have bedbugs, call the Health Center at 342-4864 extension 5 because there is a chance you may be dealing with a look-alike insect instead of bedbugs. Milbern says residents shouldn’t panic if they encounter the pests.
Milbern says you should use an integrated pest management plan involving pesticides and non-chemical treatments to rid your home of bedbugs.
