The Wabaunsee County Sheriff’s Office says residential and vehicle burglaries continue in the county despite “several” recent arrests.
The Sheriff’s Office says “many” inpiduals are involved and have come to the county from major metropolitan areas like Kansas City, Lawrence and Topeka. Sheriff Rob Hoskins says many of the suspects are known criminals and drug addicts — some of them are armed — and they need several hundred dollars a day on hand to fuel their addictions.
Unlocked vehicles, garages, sheds and homes are primary targets. Suspects are making thefts at all hours. Most crime details have not been pulged, but the Sheriff’s Office says several hundred guns from Wabaunsee County and neighboring counties have been stolen during this rash of criminal activity.
