Formal charges are now on the docket against a Kansas City man who was allegedly involved in a highway hit-and-run near Emporia this past weekend.
The Lyon County Attorney’s Office has charged 21-year-old Luis Arnaldo Palma-Nufio with aggravated battery, no driver’s license, registration or insurance, speeding, reckless driving and transporting an open container of alcohol.
Court documents say Palma-Nufio’s car allegedly rear-ended a second car on Interstate 35 near mile marker 140 southbound on Saturday and kept going. Palma-Nufio was going an estimated 75 to 80 mph at the time of the incident and was later estimated at traveling at least 100 mph before he was arrested just south of Emporia on the Kansas Turnpike.
