Budgetary matters and other updates highlighted the USD 251 Board of Education November meeting tonight (W).
The district’s budget report came back at the end of the quarter displaying a positive outlook. As of the end of the first quarter, only about 22% of the annual budget had been spent.
District superintendent Mike Mathes said that even though this year’s budget was smaller than last year’s, USD 251 currently has about $75,000 more available now than they did last year.
Separately, two votes were cast to retain HTK Architects contract for future repairs as needed and Cindy Jensen for the annual audit engagement letter. Both of these votes were passed on unanimous 7-0 votes.
After an executive session of board members, no action was taken on a superintendent replacement plan. Current superintendent Mike Mathes was hired on an interim basis after former superintendent Aron Dody resigned to lead Council Grove earlier this year.
