Several future projects will be the main topic of conversation during the Emporia City Commission’s study session Wednesday morning.
Items on the agenda include discussion of a potential expansion for a runway on the south end of the Emporia Municipal Airport. The proposed expansion would increase the runway by 500 feet. The proposal follows a recent acquisition by the city of Emporia for two plots of land to create a runway safety zone on the north end of the airport to meet mandates by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Commissioners will also discuss funding for future water projects. The city recently submitted a letter of intent to pursue low-interest loan funding for selected water-related projects through a special program provided by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. The presentation will include a briefing on the current process and what future steps will entail.
Also on the agenda will be a review of the city snow removal policy which was adopted in 1980. The meeting will begin at 9:30 am in Conference Room 1AB inside White Auditorium.
