Lyon County deputies have identified the suspect in Saturday’s high-speed hit-and-run incident outside Emporia.
Deputies say 21-year-old Luis Arnaldo Palma-Nufio, a Kansas City resident, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, no driver’s license, no insurance, reckless driving, speeding and transporting an open container of alcohol.
Palma-Nufio allegedly used his car to hit a second car on Interstate 35 about six miles east of Emporia, then allegedly sped away at a high rate of speed before he was stopped and arrested near the Kansas Turnpike’s Emporia tollgate a few minutes later.
Formal charges are pending at last word.
