Last night, the All Veterans Tribute Show: Beyond the Banners honored all those who have served in the local area.
Running the show once again, Alaska Turner introduced the veterans to praise and recognize their sacrifices to our nation.
After each veteran was honored, the Emporia Municipal Band played renditions of many classic tunes such as America the Beautiful and Yankee Doodle Dandy.
A moment of silence was also given for those who have fallen serving our country while Taps was played in remembrance.
A number of heroes were honored, including Bob Schreiber. His son, 60th District Representative Mark Schreiber, presented his father’s banner and gave thanks on his behalf.
Also involved in the Beyond the Banners show was Emporia Main Street, the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce, Scouting USA and Girl Scouts of Kansas Heartland.
