The Wichita State Shockers out scored Providence 83-80 in the Veterans Classic for their first win of the season Friday.
Marcus McDiffie scored a career high 32 points to lead the Shockers. Samaj Haynes-Jones added 15 points. Wichita State trailed by 10 in the first half and led by as many as 13 in the second half.
Wichita State plays Davidson next Thursday.
