The Kansas Jayhawks held on for a 92-87 win over Michigan State in the Champions Classic Tuesday night.
The Jayhawks led by as many as 17 in the 2nd half, Michigan State would cut the lead to 3 points with 34 seconds to play.
Freshman Quintin Grimes led the Jayhawks with a game high 21 points. Dedric Lawson had a double-double of 20 points and 14 rebounds. Udoka Azubuike finished with 17 points and freshman Devon Dotson added 16 points. After the game on ESPNs Sports Center Coach Bill Self said he was pleased with the play of the freshmen.
Kansas will host Vermont Monday night.
In the other Champions Classic game Duke defeated Kentucky 118-84.
