Emporia State University students and local residents were treated to a presentation on how big business influenced the course of history.
New York Times best-selling author Edwin Black was the featured speaker Monday with his presentation “How IBM Co-Planned and Co-Organized the Holocaust.” The presentation based off findings in his best selling book delved deep into how information gathering and technology by big business corporations aided in the rise and control of the Third Reich during World War II.
Black shared the various reasons which motivated his career and numerous works. He explains, to fully understand how the events of history unfolded, one must uncover the whole truth.
Black came to Emporia at the request of ESU Professor of History Dr. Chris Lovett, whose class is currently studying Black’s book. A highly sought-after lecturer Black waived his traditional fee in order to be at ESU Monday.
When asked why he made the trip to ESU Black explained it is his responsibility to share his information with future generations.
Black was joined by his daughter Rachel Black who just recently released her first musical single. During the presentation, Black shared her song, dedicated to the memory of her grandmother, titled Edyka.
She says having the opportunity to share her talent alongside her father is an unreal experience.
