While the Holiday season is a time of celebration and togetherness, there are some families torn apart by domestic abuse and neglect.
While this is a dark thought in a time of year associated with joy, SOS is offering residents an opportunity to help bring light back to those families.
Adopt a family allows community members to provide basic needs and gifts to disadvantaged families. Families and individuals are eligible for Adopt a Family if they have worked with SOS consistently for the past three months and do not qualify for assistance through the Salvation Army. Anyone is eligible to be matched with a family.
After adopting a family, individuals will receive a copy of the family’s “wish list” filled out with the assistance of SOS advocates. The “wish list” will contain information such as the ages and genders of all kids and parents within the household, sizes and favorite items.
Gifts should be left unwrapped and dropped off between 8 am and 5 pm anytime before December 14 at the SOS Administrative Office located at 618 Mechanic in Emporia.
