After casting your vote in the general election Tuesday be sure and stop by the Lyon County Fairgrounds to pick up a delicious cup of soup.
Soup-a-Palooza is taking place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Anderson Building. The event is the major fundraiser for the Emporia Farmer’s Market, which is the largest direct to consumer food outlet in a four-county area.
Farmer’s Market Director Jessica Hopkins explains why the event is held on election day.
Community members have the option of dine in or carry out with the menu consisting of sausage potato soup, beefy vegetable, southwest chicken and spicy butternut soups as well as a wide selection of homemade desserts. The cost for a dine-in bowl is $3 while carry out is $6, all desserts are $1 a piece.
As mentioned all proceeds will benefit the Emporia Farmer’s Market which kicked off its indoor market season this past Saturday. Hopkins says she was very pleased with the turnout.
