The Lyon County Treasurer’s Office is making it easier for residents to view certain aspects of their tax information.
Treasurer Sharon Gaede says residents can now go online to the county’s website, www.lyoncounty.org, to view current property taxes, payment deadlines and payment history.
Gaede says residents can go to the Government drop-down menu, click on “Treasurer” and then select “Property Tax Information.” After that, residents can then choose “County Tax Information.” Residents can look up tax information by name or address by either filling in their respective information and hitting “enter” or by clicking “Find Now.”
Information like current taxes due and payment history will be updated daily — unless taxes are delinquent. In that case, residents have to call the Treasurer’s Office at 341-3255 for current information. Gaede says property tax data is public information, so there is no need for any special log-in procedure.
Gaede says the system has actually been in place for about a year, but the county wanted to let banks, title companies and mortgage companies have a chance to test the system. They have been pleased with how it has worked, so now the system is going public.
