An autopsy has been completed after a Lyon County inmate died at the county jail this week.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation says it is awaiting results after the death of 43-year-old Christopher Mejia of Emporia on Tuesday. Mejia was found unresponsive at the jail shortly after he had been booked on suspicion of criminal trespassing. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.
The KBI has not said when it expects autopsy results to be released.
As the results are tabulated, the Sheriff’s Office is conducting a standard review of its procedures as well.
Foul play is not suspected in Mejia’s death.
