This week, Safe Kids Emporia urged parents to check candy once all the trick-or-treaters come home Wednesday night. The Drug Enforcement Agency’s St. Louis division, which includes Kansas, has now issued a similar warning.
Last year, the DEA found several examples of marijuana-laced or methamphetamine-laced candies across the country. Many of them are sold in packages that are designed to look like legitimate candy — including:
*Munchy Way instead of Milky Way
*Stoney Ranchers instead of Jolly Ranchers
*Oeo instead of Oreo
*3 Rastateers instead of 3 Musketeers
*Keef Kat instead of Kit Kat
*Rasta Reese’s instead of Reese’s.
If you wind up getting any suspicious treats that have unusual wrapping or misspelled candy labels, let local law enforcement know.
