The Emporia State soccer team hosts Northeastern State Wednesday afternoon in the first round of the MIAA post season tournament. The Lady Hornets are the number 3 seed. Northeastern is the 6th seed.
The Riverhawks won the regular season match 1-0. Emporia State did out shoot Northeastern 5-3 on goal. Emporia State Coach Brian Sailer says they need to capitalize on their opportunities.
Senior Maria Walden says they need to stay positive.
The Lady Hornets have had 9 shutouts this season. Jillian Patton has been in goal in 7 of those.
Kick-off is set for 2pm on the Emporia State soccer pitch.
The winner will play either Central Missouri or Lindenwood in the semi-finals Friday.
The other first round matches have Washburn at Central Oklahoma and Fort Hays State hosting Missouri Western.
The Championship match will be played Sunday.
