The Emporia High boys finished in 12th place at the 5A State Cross Country meet Saturday.
The Spartans were running without Treyson True, their top runner, who missed the meet due to illness. Ian Coleman-Hull finished in 72nd place for the best finish for a Spartan. In the girls 5A race Emporia Highs Avery Gutierrez finished in 40th place, Taryn West finished 41st and Miranda Taylor 93rd.
The Northern Heights boys finished in 3rd place in the 2A race. Taj Bailey finished in 12th place to lead the Wildcats.
In the 1A girls race Emmy Punches of Burlingame finished in 19th place. In the 1A boys race Jed Cole of Olpe finished in 45th place.
In the 3A races the Burlington boys finished in 7th place, the Osage City boys finished in 12th place. The Osage City girls finished in 10th place.
