Downtown Emporia will be the location for a celebration co-organized by Hispanics of Today and Tomorrow and Emporia Main Street this weekend.
The inaugural Emporia Dia de los Muertos celebration will be happening all day Saturday on Commercial Street. The event will begin with a parade which will start at 7th and Commercial.
HOTT President Sally Sanchez says the parade is just the tip of the iceberg.
Along with those activities will also be a screening of the film Coco at the Granada Theatre. Tickets for the screening are available at the Granada, Emporia Main Street, Kansas Free for the Arts, Angelita’s Fashions and Mi Rumba.
The event is a combination between H.O.T.T. and the annual Emporia Main Street Halloween activities. Main Street Director Casey Woods says the combination creates more opportunities for local families.
All activities are free and open to the public and will also feature music and food. For a full schedule of Dia de los Muertos activities click here.
