More traffic tightening is underway this week with a project in downtown Emporia.
As we told you last week, the city’s Public Works Department is fixing a leaky water main on Sixth Avenue between Commercial and Merchant. Temporary lane closures are taking place for the rest of the week through late Friday afternoon.
The work in the 10 block of West Sixth is taking place as pavement work continues on Merchant Street north of Sixth, and city officials say they wanted to wait until that construction project cleared the intersection before starting on the water main repair.
Drivers are encouraged to make adjustments, including alternate routes to avoid delays or reduce congestion. Work is weather permitting.
