The Emporia High boys soccer team suffered a heart breaking loss in the regional semi-finals Monday night. After 80 minutes of regulation, two 10 minute overtimes and two 5 minute overtimes the Spartans were defeated 5-3 in a shootout by DeSoto.
The Spartans had numerous shots on goal, but were unable to find the back of the net. Coach Victor Ibarra said they gave their best effort.
Emporia High played without 5 starters who were involved in an accident earlier in the day. The Spartans finish the season with a 12-5 record.
