For the 2nd year in a row the Emporia High boys cross country team is headed to State.
The Spartans finished in 3rd place at the St. Thomas Aquinas regional Saturday. Treyson True was the lead runner for Emporia High finishing in 2nd place.
The Emporia High girls finished in 4th place but 3 runners did qualify for State. Avery Gutierrez finished in 13th place, Taryn West 14th and Miranda Taylor 20th.
4 area teams also qualified for State. The Northern Heights boys finished in 1st place in the regionals. The Osage City boys won a regional and the Osage City girls finished in 2nd place. The Burlington boys qualified for State with a 2nd place finish at regionals. The State cross country races will be held next Saturday.
