It was a spooky night in Emporia Saturday as the Emporia Police Department Benefit Association held its annual Zombie Run 5K at Jones Park.
The event raises money for different events year round that the police department supports and serves as a way for them to get out and interact with the community. Benefit Association President, Officer Jaffar Agha explains.
The event encouraged participants to dress up in the Halloween-themed event and had volunteers serving as the zombies across the different Emporia neighborhoods near Jones Park.
As runners returned to Jones Park they were able to relax and enjoy concessions and a games leading up to the showing of Hocus Pocus on the big screen in the park. Movies in the park have become a tradition for the last few years for the benefit association.
