With all the infrastructure improvements taking place at or below ground level in Emporia, the city of Emporia is launching a new project later this month to gauge the health of the city’s sanitary sewer collection system downtown.
City staff, BG Consultants and Mayer Specialty Staff are starting this work with a dye test to determine which lines are active and open. Staff will go door-to-door downtown and ask for permission to flush a so-called dye table as part of the process.
Work should go from Oct. 29 through Nov. 9 and will generally impact an area bordered by 12th Avenue on the north end, the Burlington Northern Santa Fe tracks on the south, Union Street on the east side and Congress on the west. If you have questions, call the City Engineer’s Office at 343-4260 or Emporia Main Street at 340-6430.
