Plans are coming together to take the next group of area veterans on the USD 252 Southern Lyon County Honor Flight before the end of the month.
A group of 24 veterans, 22 students and 10 support staff will depart for Washington, D.C. Oct. 29 for the 48-hour nonstop tour of sites. USD 252 Superintendent Mike Argabright says a meet and greet is planned next week at VFW Post 1980, 932 Graphic Arts Road.
The meet and greet will take place at 6 p.m. Wednesday with Olpe Chicken House catering their meal and Newman Regional Health helping sponsor the event.
The Honor Flights are made possible thanks to year-round fundraising. The district hosts two each year, one in the fall and one in the spring.
