The Flint Hills Senior Life Fair welcomed close to 300 local senior citizens Wednesday.
The number of vendors increased for the third annual event, with over 40 local organizations on hand. Senior Life Fair committee Chairman David Hurlocker says seeing so many different groups share in the same purpose is something special.
Hurlocker adds the vendors on hand offered services and information not only for senior citizens but their caregivers as well.
The keynote speaker for this year’s Life Fair was rancher and former Center for Great Plains Studies director Jim Hoy. Hoy’s topic was folklore and history from around the state of Kansas.
Hoy says this specific topic is great for sparking conversation among seniors.
The event also featured demonstrations, education sessions, door prizes and live music from the Emporia High School orchestra.
