The 2018 Medicare open enrollment period began Monday.
Through December 7th senior citizen’s may make appointments with the through the Department of Aging and the Lyon County Extension office to have their medical insurance questions answered. Lyon County Extension agent Rhonda Gordon says the open enrollment period provides a chance for residents to double check their coverage, as it can change from year to year.
Senior Health Insurance Counselors of Kansas (SHICK) are readily available to speak with anyone needing information. The purpose of Shick Counselors is to help make sense of what can be a hectic and confusing topic.
All SHICK services are completely free, and there will be a three-day SHICK counseling event at the Anderson Building from Nov. 13-15. Walk-ins are welcome however priority will be given to individuals who schedule an appointment.
Those wishing to schedule an appointment may call the Lyon County Department on Aging at 620-341-3493 or the Lyon County Extension Office at 620-341-3220. Individuals must bring with them their Medicare card and a list of current prescriptions.
