An Osage County man was hurt as part of a wreck scene in Sedgwick County that ultimately involved five vehicles late Friday night.
The crashes happened at the Kansas Turnpike’s mile marker 35.5, or between the Belle Plaine and Haysville exits. The Kansas Highway Patrol says 20-year-old Matthew Burkert of Burlingame was driving a car northbound when his car hit a second car driven by 35-year-old Jourdan Foran of Pawhuska, Okla., around 11:45 pm. Burkert’s car then hit a car driven by 25-year-old Logan Haggestad of Wichita.
The Highway Patrol says Haggestad’s vehicle was disabled as part of a wreck that happened about a minute earlier. A car driven by 29-year-old Valencia Rankins of Wichta was northbound on the Turnpike and hit Haggestad’s car, which then hit a car driven by 48-year-old Anjeanetta Criswell of Wichita and then stopped in the highway.
Burkert and Foran were listed as injured but the Highway Patrol crash log does not say whether they were hospitalized. A passenger in Burkert’s car was not hurt.
Haggestad was hurt in the original crash. The crash log does not say whether he was hospitalized. Rankins and Criswell were not hurt.
