The annual Oktoberfest celebration is going on in downtown Saturday afternoon.
From 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Seventh Ave. between Merchant and Commercial will be full of activities including live music, games, a cornhole tournament, food and of course a great selection of beer and mixed drinks for individuals 21 years of age or older. Oktoberfest has been restructured this year into more of a street festival rather than the pub crawl of year’s past.
The event is organized by the Downtown Emporia Bar Association which includes Mulready’s Pub, Town Royale, Radius Brewing Company and Charlie’s Place. Mulready’s owner Rick Becker says the new Oktoberfest was structured to be unique to Emporia.
Becker adds the event is completely kid-friendly and invites all families to come out and enjoy the day together.
Ticket cost for Oktoberfest is $10 which gets you in the door as well as a celebratory mug for all of your drinks. Tickets are available at the door or at any of the Bar Association establishments.
