A partnership between local entities is ensuring a higher level of excellence for teachers in Kansas.
Thanks to a partnership for the past 20 years between State Farm Insurance and the Great Plains Center of National Teacher Certification, local educators have been able to attend a program of professional development. The program provides educators with national certification through the National Board of Professional Teaching Standards.
Great Plains Center of National Teacher Certification Director Alvin Peters explains what national certification means for educators.
The program is virtually cost-free for those wishing to attend thanks to grants offered by State Farm Insurance. The grants were created and earmarked to help aid education in the state of Kansas back in the late 90’s as a project to give teachers an extra outlet to enhance their knowledge and ability in the classroom.
State Farm Agent Pete Euler says this partnership is very near to his heart.
The Great Plains Center of National Teacher Certification is located in the Jones Institute for Educational Excellence on the ESU campus. For more information on the programs provided by the Center, click here.
