For the second time this decade, USD 252 Southern Lyon County has garnered a major grant from Monsanto.
A special check presentation took place this week as Monsanto granted the district $25,000 as part of the America’s Farmers Grow Rural Education program. Superintendent Mike Argabright says this will fund drone technology, giving students a chance to see agriculture from several new angles.
This follows a grant three years ago to build greenhouses at Olpe and Hartford.
Argabright says this project represents the future of ag technology, and he says the Monsanto grants “have opened up doors that we would not have had.” He credited the Southern Lyon County School Board for supporting the district as it works to find these kinds of opportunities for students and area farmers for nominating the district for grant funds the past several years.
