One of five defendants in a local drug distribution case has now been bound over for trial.
Following a preliminary hearing Wednesday, Jacob Rodriguez will now have a pretrial hearing at 2 pm Oct. 26 on charges of drug distribution within 1,000 feet of a school, drug paraphernalia with intent to manufacture drugs, paraphernalia with intent to use and illegal use of a communication facility.
Co-defendant Amanda Alvarado was slated for a preliminary hearing Thursday on charges of distributing stimulants and possessing drug paraphernalia with intent to manufacture. That hearing has now been continued to Oct. 11.
Cole Bowen, another co-defendant in the case who is charged with distributing stimulants and possession with intent to manufacture, has also been bound over for trial. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for Nov. 14.
Fellow co-defendants Luis Guillen and Seana Herron have prelims Oct. 10. Bowen is charged with distributing stimulants and possessing drug paraphernalia with intent to manufacture. Guillen and Herron are both charged with drug distribution within 1,000 feet of a school, two counts of drug paraphernalia and other counts.
Arrests last month were part of an investigation involving Emporia Police, Lyon County deputies and the Lyon County Special Response Team.
